  1.  A   personal  literature  database  can  be  a  significant  help  in
  2. organizing  references  for  planning,  interpreting,  and  reporting
  3. research.  This  is  especially  useful  if  means  are available for
  4. extracting  listings  from  comprehensive  databases  and if selected
  5. references  can  be  incorporated  automatically into manuscripts. We
  6. report  an integrated database system in operation in our laboratory.
  7. While  the system we describe is for a chemistry database and certain
  8. of  the  sources  discussed  are  specifically  chemistry sources the
  9. system is applicable to any discipline. Our system is Macintosh based
  10. but  the  software  involved  is  also  available  for IBM compatible
  11. personal  computers.  The  current core of the system is the database
  12. management  and  bibliography  generation program, EndNote Plus, from
  13. Niles  and  Associates,  with  input  through  Current  Contents  and
  14. Chemical Abstracts.
  15.
